Wild Conservation Research Unit testing and discussing the Last Haven expert prototype.

On 2 July 2025, Design Bioethics Lab (DBL) researchers Edmond Awad and David Lyreskog visited the Wildlife Conservation and Research Unit (WildCRU), Department of Zoology, University of Oxford, to present and discuss Last Haven, a digital DBL research tool examining moral attitudes toward conservation efforts.

The WildCRU members tested and provided the DBL team with essential feedback on an alternative version of Last Haven currently under development, specifically aimed at experts. The discussions that followed went on long after the scheduled meeting, in the corridors, kitchen, and courtyard of the building.

More than a fruitful feedback session, the visit promises a productive long-term collaborative relationship between the teams, and plans are already being drawn up for future exchanges.

Such interdisciplinary and productive processes are central to the aims of the Design Bioethics Laboratory, and we are eager to move forward with the next phase.
